Marte Danielsdatter's family lived five miles south of her future husband's farm called Flisstrand, at Tyskeberget Farm, where they had lived for many generations. Her parents were Daniel Andersen (Tyskeberget) and Guri Andersdatter. She was baptized 11 Feb. 1809 in Hof parish. She married Kristian Henriksen on 22 March 1827 in Aasnes Church, Hof Parish Hedmark, Norway. The couple had ten children, many of whom emigrated to the United States, as did their father years after Marte's death about 1848. They were Helene (b. 1827), John C. (1830-1910), Gunnerius (1832-1898), Halvor C. (1835-1915), Dorothea (b. 1838), Kristian (b. 1841), Martin (b. 1843), Arne (b. 1845), Daniel (b. 1848), and Anne Marie. Those who emigrated to the United States include Helene, who married Mathias Carlssen 6 April 1848 in Hof, Hedmark; John C., who married Marie Kristensdatter 31 July 1856 in Pleasant Springs, WI; Gunnerius (whose American name was Generius Johnson), who married Syverine Christiansdatter (Christianson) in 1855 in Arena, WI; Halvor C., who married Pernille Torstensdatter in Asnes in 1864; and Dorothea.
