Ventura Saiz Cabrera Mata, 81, of Springerville passed away, Wednesady, August 24, 2016 in Show Low. She was born September 22, 1934 in Aragon, New Mexico the daughter of Pedro "Pete" Cabrera and Onofra "Onie" Saiz.
Ventura is survived by her sons, Lorenzo (Meredith) Mata, Sierra Vista; Paul (Melinda) Mata, Henderson, Nevada; Victor (Missie) Mata, Taylor; Adrian (Robin) Mata, Globe; and daughters, Yvonne (Jesse) Gutierrez, Gilbert; Marylou Murphy, Eagar; Vivian (Phil) Chasse, Maricopa; Gen (Marc) Zebell, Eagar; 25 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, brothers, Bernie Tafoya, Ben Cabrera, Jimmy Cabrera, sisters, Flora Castillo, MaryAnn Mada, Pauline Tafoya, Gloria Ponce de Leon, and Julia Cabrera.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Luz Lucero Mata; daughter, Donna Lee Martinez; son-in-law, Mike Murphy; grandson-in-law, Joe Mata; great grandson, Saige Mata; as well as her twin brother, Tom Cabrera; and brothers, Cruz Tafoya; Vidal Tafoya and Frankie Cabrera.
A viewing will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. with rosary following at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Springerville.
