Kay L. Brooks, 79, of Monmouth, passed away at 10:24 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL

Kay was born on October 15, 1936 in Monmouth; she is the daughter of Everett C. and Frances L (Parsons) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1954. Kay attended Monmouth College.

She married Robert T. Brooks of Roseville, IL, on October 15, 1955 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2006.

Kay worked as a secretary at various local businesses in Monmouth. She owned and operated the Mode O Day Dress Shop in Monmouth. Kay was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and Heritage United Presbyterian Church, Monmouth. She loved to read and cook; she cooked church dinners for many at the First Christian Church in Monmouth.

Surviving Kay are her children; Michael L. Brooks of Monmouth, Richard T. Brooks of Galesburg, IL, Lora K. (Robert) Jorgensen of Nashville, TN, her grandchildren; Brooks R. Jorgensen of Phoenix, AZ, Brittany A. Jorgensen of Nashville, IL, and Brenna Jorgensen of West Palm Beach, FL. Also surviving is her brother; H. Quinn (Terry) Anderson of Brookeville, MD, Sister Judith (Jim) Pilarski of Fort Wayne, IN, brother and sister-in-law, Wendell (Janet) Brooks of Kirkwood, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, one brother, Jack Anderson, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George L. and Beverly Brooks.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to Heritage United Presbyterian Church. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
