George Philips Condict (of Silas Byram Condict and Emiline Philips of Morristown, NJ), half brother to Winthrop Campbell Condict,I, was a patriot, a private in the American Civil War, a brave, world explorer and traveler who traveled via ship from Morristown, NJ,/New York around South America, around Cape Horn, on a ship’s journey to California where he sought fortune in the early 1800’s gold rush. He found gold, enough to buy a small, Wyoming ranch, known as part of the Big Creek Ranch near Encampment, Wyoming on the Wy/Colorado border. He is buried near his half-brother’s family in Saratoga, Wyoming.
