Ted Null, 59, Marion, former Marion police chief and head of the enforcement division of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will be held at noon today in St, Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Mr Null died Thursday in his home. He served on the police department from 1948 to 1969, and as chief the last four years. A Republican, he also had been a Grant County commissioner since January. He was appointed superintendent of the enforcement division of the DNR by former Gov Edgar D. Whitcomb. The two were good friends who had served together during World War II. Both had made the infamous "Death March" on Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines. Mr Null was a member of the St. Paul Church, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Indiana Association of County Commissioners and the Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He had served on the police force since 1948. Null was named by former Gov. Edgar Whitcomb to serve as superintendent of the Department of Natural Resources enforcement division. Null was a close friend of Whitcomb's. They served together during the infamous "Death March" on the Bataan Peninsula in 1942. Null, a U.S. Navy veteran, also served in the Korean War. Null was a member of St. Paul Church, Marion Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Indiana Association of County Commissioners and the Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. Survivors wife Virginia; daughter Kathleen.
