Donald Howell, 67, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on June 9, 1944 in Oregon, Ohio to Harry and Dorothy (Jones) Howell. He was a 1962 graduate of Clay High School. Don served his country in the U.S. Army following graduation from high school. On February 16, 1980, he married Janet Genson. Don was employed with Local 50 as a pipe fitter and project manager and retired after 40 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf with the Local 50 league. His hobbies included woodworking and squirrel hunting. Don will be remembered for his willingness to help others whenever he could. His true passion was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren which brought him much joy. Don is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet; children, Jon (Emma) Howell, Cherie (Peter) Gingras, Jason (Erika) Howell, Tracey (Darren) Barney, Lori (Tom) Cook, Charlene (Trevor) Walsh, Michael (Chris) Howell, and Tamie Howell; 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph (Kathy) Haney, Ken (Gail) Howell, Larry (Donna) Howell, Tom (Linda) Howell, Bonnie (Floyd) Pierce, Carol (Fred) Schmidt, and Richard Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280). Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
