Mrs. Margaret “Faye” Davenport Jarrell, 89, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She was born in Surry County on March 18, 1927 to the late Joseph Glen and Emma McCraw Davenport.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served in the baby’s nursery for over 37 years.

Mrs. Jarrell graduated from Franklin High School where she was a star basketball player.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Norris Jarrell of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay Rogers and Jimmy of Pilot Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Gray Jarrell and Judy of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Brian Rogers of Winston-Salem, Lori Thomas, and Jody Jarrell both of Mt. Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard Davenport and Elsie of Winston Salem; a special aunt, Melba Shelton.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jarrell was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Davis; a brother, Jack Davenport.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alex Martin and Mr. Greg Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 S Franklin Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in c/o Richard Bullis, 163 East Laurel Ln., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
