Mr. Ray died Monday, Oct. 21, 1996, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1930, in Lawrence, the son of Leonard and Goldie Irene Tate Ray.
He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence and worked as a commercial trucker. He owned and operated Ray's Trucking until he retired in 1988. His hobby was hunting.
Mr. Ray was married four times: to Sarah Worst; Beulah Joy Flory, who died Jan. 1, 1986; Betty Lou Blauvelt; and Geneva Lorane Steele, who died June 9, 1995.
Survivors include his parents of Lawrence; three sons, Charles Michael, Bonner Springs, and Lown James and Richard Dean, both of Lawrence; a stepson, Arthur Munger, Lawrence; six daughters, Linda Sue Mole, Charlotte Marie Woodruff, Carol May Mendell and Gale Irene Stockton, all of Lawrence, Frances Lynn Bradshaw, Ottawa, and Maria Fay Smith, Baldwin; several stepdaughters; two brothers, Bob and Don, both of Lawrence; 26 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
