Nancy (Hanks) Fitzgerald was a daughter of George & Lurane (Hill) Hanks, believed to have been their second born child.

There is conflicting information about her date of birth, some claiming it was Jan. 5th and some Jan. 15th.* Many researchers also claim her first name was Mary.*

Nancy Hanks married John Fitzgerald (whom some claim had the middle name of Bird*) on 2 Oct. 1809 in Maury County, Tenn. John is believed to have been a son of Christopher Fitzgerald & Elizabeth Douglas.

John Fitzgerald died in about 1840 in Maury County, TN. The marriage records in Maury County document a marriage having taken place on 27 May 1848 between Nancy Fitzgerald and Davis Dodson, undoubtedly one of her distant cousins (Nancy's grandmother was a Dodson).

Nancy is believed to have died in the adjacent county of Marshall where she lived--in 1853 by some, and 1861* by others.

* Any legitimate documentation to prove the above mentioned conflicting information would be greatly appreciated.
