Mrs. Susannah Alderson died at the home of her son Miles Alderson at Strawberry Point, May 10, after a lingering illness of several months.
Susannah Carpenter, the daughter of Jackson and Mary Carpenter, was born in Lodomillo Township, March 26, 1861. Years later the family moved to Cox Creek Township where she spent the greater part of her life.

March 23, 1880, she was married to John Alderson, who preceded her in death, May 28, 1921. They were the parents of eight children, six of whom survive the mother. Two daughters preceded her in death, Esther who died in infancy and Elsie who died May 6, 1923. The surviving children are Ray, Everitt, Miles and Ellsworth of Strawberry Point, Merritt of Mederville and Mrs. Jessie Moyna of Elkader. Eleven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one brother James Carpenter of Cogswell, S.D., also survive.
Funeral services were held at the Gill Chapel at Strawberry Point, conducted by the Rev. R. Park Anderson, Thursday, May 13. Burial took place in the Cox Creek cemetery. Casket bearers were Ellsworth Carnicle, Gregor Debes, James Debes, Floyd Dittmer, Earnest Kellogg and Leon Olinger.
