Springtown ~ Charles Royce Nix, 76, a retired electrician and man of many trades, went to be with our Lord Thursday, January 14, 2016 in Decatur, Texas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Rock Island Family Church, 545 W Rock Island Ave, Boyd, Texas 76023.
Pastor Millard Buchholz will officiate.
Charles was born on January 22, 1939 to John Sr. and Cora (Green) Nix in Longview, Texas. He attended Longview High School, and then he enlisted and served in the United States Navy where he learned his electrician skills. Charles was a certified Commercial Refrigeration Technician for many years, and he dabbled in various other businesses including Midget Car Racing, Used and New Car Sales, managing his own car lot, A/C and Heating Repair, managing three different restaurants, long haul transportation, songwriting, and entertainment promotions. He loved cars, cooking, and animals, especially dogs and exotic birds, of which he was gifted in handling. Charles also enjoyed various hobbies like playing chess, golf, and darts.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his brother, James O. Nix; his children, Charles R. Nix, II, Martin J. Nix, Sheila D. Wall, Darla L. Nix, Amber N. Matthews, Aleshia M. Woody; thirteen grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
