He was the son of Thomas "Harp" Heffernan, Islamorada, Fla., and Jane Reese Heffernan, Albany, N.H., and was the grandson of the late Thomas and Allie Heffernan, Lehman, and William J. "Pizzle" and Doris Reese, Kingston.
He attended Dallas High School, West Side Vo-Tech and Coral Shores High School, Tavernier, Fla.
He was an accomplished carpenter, welder and mechanic and a talented artist, winning first place at the age of 13 at the Luzerne County Fall Fair.
Bill had a passion for BMX bike racing, mud bog trucks and fishing.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Andrea Sterling Heffernan, West Newfield; brother, Tom Heffernan, Wakefield, N.H.; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A private family service will be held at Peaslee Funeral Home, Sanbornville, N.H., at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A visiting hour will be held in Shavertown United Methodist Church, Pioneer Avenue, starting at 1 p.m. Thursday, followed by a brief service by Pastor Judy Walker at 2 p.m.
Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shavertown United Methodist Church.
