Clarence was the son of W. H. Newton Lewis and Mary Ellen (Elliott) Lewis and the husband of Lavern Dill. He graduated from Eastland High School in 1929. Clarence served in the U.S. Army, Battery "A", 326th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (AAA) Searchlight Batallion in WW II. His rank was technician (Sgt) third grade (highest technician rank as only three others in the batallion held this rank). At the time of his service his address was RD Ft.Worth, Tx. His unit trained at Ft.Bliss, Tx. in 1943. His unit moved to Florida for additional training returning to Ft. Bliss in May of 1944. He served in the Pacific Theater during WW II. After the war he worked as an electronics technician in the aircraft industry and retired following 32 years of service with Convair, General Dynamics Corp. in Ft. Worth, Tx. Clarence and his wife Laverne lived at Willow Park, Weatherford, Tx for 39 years. They were members of the Las Vegas Trail Church of Christ.
Clarence and Laverne had no children, however, Laverne was a school teacher and in that respect had many children. Clarence was a kind and quiet man and at age 90 still had a sharp and clear mind and memory.
