Christopher Matthew Kasper, 47, passed away July 2, 2016, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas, after a four-year battle with complications from pancreatitis and diabetes.

He was born January 27, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa, the first-born child of Christopher Jerome Kasper and Michaelene Rose (Nading) Kasper.

Shortly after graduating from David Crockett High School in Austin, Texas in 1987, he enlisted in the Army. For 19 years Chris proudly served his country; 12 years of active duty in the Army, and 7 years in the National Guard. His service included tours in Korea, Germany, and Iraq. For his exceptionally meritorious service during the Operation Iraqi Freedom mission, and his outstanding dedication to duty during combat operations in Iraq, in December of 2007 Chris was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, which is the fourth-highest individual military award in the U.S. Military. Chris also assisted hurricane victims after Hurricane Katrina. Upon departure from the service, Chris served the federal government with the Department of Homeland Security. He was one of the first airport security agents hired after September 11, 2001.
