Floyd L. Alsop, age 93, of Richmond, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 8, 2006 at Reid Hospital. He was born in Kentucky on Jan. 3, 1913, to Alonzo and Ida Griffith Alsop Sweeney and had lived here most of his life. He was a graduate of Straughn High School and was a U. S. veteran of World War II. He and his wife retired in 1989 after 43 years as owners of Alsop's Grill which was well known for good food, particularly chili and tenderloins. Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Alsop, daughter Kay (Steve) Koger of Richmond, son Gary Alsop of Richmond, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters are also deceased. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 in Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. James Spon will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Veterans Council.
