On September 28, 1918, Mrs. Princella Banks was born, the elder of two daughters, to the late Homer and Fannie Walton Giddens in Waverly Hall, Georgia. Her sister, Roseanna Giddens Green preceded her in death.
She was educated in Talbott County and Atlanta Public Schools. She often recalled one of the most important decisions she made was accepting the proposal to marry the love of her life. On October 16, 1938, she married Harold Thomas Banks, Sr., after more than 66 years, he preceded her in death.
God blessed this union with eleven children. Mrs. Banks exemplified a life of service to God, her family, the church, and the community. She felt her ministry to her family came firs staying at home to serve and rear the children until the eleventh child was enrolled into the first grade. She then accepted employment with Economic Opportunity Atlanta. Mrs. Banks found her work rewarding but now her youngest was graduating from college so she retired after 19 years.
Mrs. Banks was a testament to everyone she met. Sharing an infectious smile and sharing the joy she and her husband received from being a member of Butler Street C.M.E. Church were they served for more than sixty years. She served on the Stewardess Board for more than fifty years.
She enjoyed attending many baseball and football games and served as her children's number one cheerleader. She attended dance recitals, her children and grandchildren's graduations. She looked forward to having her home bursting at the seams with family on holidays. It was great fun fellowshipping as her family enjoyed eating the meals she lovely prepared.
After more than the promised "three score and ten" exciting years which included a cruise to Hawaii, weddings, and many family reunions; a few weeks ago she said, "I am tired and ready to go." She left sweet memories to help ease our pain and comfort us until we are together again.
