U.S. Revolutionary War soldier. Parents: James and Deborah (Arnold) Thayer. Husband of: 1. Lydia (Thayer) Thayer(Married: 26 OCT 1779 in Braintree or Norton, Bristol, MA) , 2. Elizabeth Thayer (Married: 12 SEP 1785 in Braintree, Norfolk, MA).

He was a Revolutionary soldier in 1775 etc. as Solomon Thayer 2nd. He applied for a pension in 1818, aged 62, says he was in John Vinton's Co. in 1776.

In 1824 he stated he was aged 70, wife aged 71 who was a cripple by an accident several years ago, that he was a farmer before he lost his property by misfortune, and had no children living with him or able to support him, and includes a deed of house and land 3/4 acre, that his son Jechonias bought of him on Sep.1,1817. Jechonias Thayer of Boston, merchant, deposed that the deed was made for advances made to his father and to pay his debts but was insufficient and that he has had to dispose of the property to discharge his debts. The widow Elizabeth Thayer applied for a pension in 1838, aged 84 (W.15429).
He resided on the paternal homestead on Elm St., parts of which he sold at various times including 3 acres sold between Elm St. and the river to his son Theophilus Thayer, a minor, Jan.30,1783, reserving to himself and wife Lydia, the improvement of it for life (S.D.140-175).

He also sold land near his brother William Thayer's dwelling near Great Pond, bounded south & west on Great Pond River, north on the causeway from Aldridge Farm to William Thayer's dwelling, Mar.25,1793 (N.D.1-225).
Solomon Thayer 2nd was on the Fish Committee 1781, was hogreave 1782, and probably also as Solomon Thayer 1783-7,89-92, Solomon Thayer 2nd, warden 1788,1789, surveyor in Middle Precinct 1789, and was on the School Committee 1793.
