1954 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mary Ann Welch, 60, died at home Friday Jan. 30, 2015 after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on May 18, 1954, daughter of the late Clarence Welch and Anna Rist Welch, she attended Pittsfield schools. After High School she worked several years as a Secretary for the Dept. of the US Navy in Pittsfield. She then was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools, working as a Secretary at Herberg Middle School then for the School Bus Dept. and then as Secretary to the Deputy Superintendent. Mary later returned to college and earned a nursing degree from Berkshire Community College. She worked as a nurse at Hillcrest Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and then at Springside Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center. She enjoyed going to the beach, cooking, listening to Irish music and most of all spending time with family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Andrea Tatro, of Pittsfield, a son, Gregory Tatro, his wife, Heather, a son, Christopher Tatro and his family, Marianne Roche and Zachary Atterberry, all of Pittsfield. She is also survived by six brothers and sisters. Christine Mitowski, Patricia Lamont, Robert Welch, James Welch, Jack Welch and Theresa Weinman and many nieces and nephews. Mary will be missed by her many wonderful friends whose lives she had touched over the years. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Mary Ann Welch will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA. Calling hours will precede the service from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Shriners Hospitals for Children , care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in her memory.
