Larry Dudley Hiibel, age 71 of Veneta, Oregon passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016 after a long battle of cancer. Known to all as Dudley, he was born in Fallon, NV on October 23, 1944, to Herman Wayne Hiibel and Mildred June McDougall Hiibel Casey.

Dudley spent his early years working with his step-father Dan Casey on cattle ranches in Fallon and Gerlach, NV.

Dudley married Alberta Bonnie Smith on February 5, 1968 and spent the majority of his life in Winnemucca, NV where he raised nine children.

He owned and operated the Hot Springs Cattle Ranch. Dudley's sole passion was being a rancher. He loved everything about the ranching life style. Dudley's brief spotlight and fame was in 2004 when he went to the United States Supreme Court in the case Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial Court of Nevada.

In 2008, he retired from the cattle business and moved to Post Falls, Idaho until he moved to Veneta, OR in 2015 to live out his days with his son William, his wife Kimberly and their children until his passing.

Dudley was a devout traditional Catholic and had a great admiration and love for his faith.

Dudley was preceded in death by both his parents, his brother John Peter Hiibel and his nephew Raymond James McDade.

He was survived by his nine children, Nathan, William (Kimberly), Millie Durossette (Dirk), Mary Sue, Matthew, John Paul (Hayley), Theodore, Mimi, Alonzo, sisters Waynette (Jim) Lewis of Carson City, NV, Mary Klassen of Winnemucca, NV and James Hiibel of Boise, ID, three nieces, four nephews and 13 grandchildren.

Dudley's funeral services were held at St Thomas Becket Church on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 6:00pm with Funeral Mass and burial on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
