C Grant Bigham, 70, a native of Adams County, died this morning at 5:00 in a Washington, DC, hospital from pneumonia. He had been in failing health for about a year.
The deceased was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Frey Bigham and was born in Hamiltonban township. For 12 years he taught in the Fairfield public schools and 37 years ago moved to Washington with his family. He was employed as a clerk in the United States weather bureau for 35 years, retiring two years ago. He was a member of Valley Home lodge, IOOF, Fairfield for 45 years.
Surviving are his widow, Mary Eyler Bigham; two sons, Thomas and Charles, Washington, DC, one sister, Mrs. Susan Carbaugh, McKnightstown; one brother, John H., Iron Springs, and a number of nephews and nieces.
A short funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Zion Lutheran church, Fairfield, conducted by the Rev. EG Colestock. Interment in Union cemetery, Fairfield.
