Son of James Shorb and Mary Ann Duttera Shorb. Husband of Sarah Ellen Fox Shorb. Brother of James Thomas Shorb, Joseph Shorb, Joshua Franklin Shorb, Mary Ohler, Theodore Shorb, Margaret Alice Harman and Frederick Jerome Shorb.

From The Frederick Post, Frederick, Maryland, 10 April 1935: John H. Shorb, near Taneytown, died at his home Saturday morning at 10.30 o'clock, following an illness of several weeks. He was aged 88 years. Mr. Shorb was a son of the late James and Mary Ann Shorb. For many years he followed the blacksmith trade. He was married to Sarah Fox, who preceded him in death a few years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William Anders, near Taneytown; Mrs. Harry Deberry, Keysville, and Mrs. Samuel Boyd, Taneytown, one granddaughter, Beulah Anders; one sister, Mrs. Jacob Uhler, Catonsville, and two brothers, Joseph Shorb, Detour, and Josiah Shorb, Emmitsburg.
Funeral Tuesday with services conducted at the home at 10 o'clock, and further services in the Keysville Lutheran church. Rev. W. O. Ibach officiated. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. The pallbearers were John Moser, Norville Davis, Merle Rupp, Harry Anders, Russell Eckard, and Carl Haines.
