The Houston Herald, Houston, Missouri,
Vol. 56, No. 22, page 4, column 3

From the Cabool Enterprise:
"Anna V., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Allsman, was born in Sullivan county, Indiana, January 4, 1863. At the age of 16 she moved with her parents to Texas county, settling first at Houston and later moving to Cabool.
Anna was married July 11, 1883, to James S. Ellis. To this home were born 10 children, 6 daughters and 4 sons. Three of the sons preceded their mother in death.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis settled on a farm near Elk Creek, where they spent the last 40 years of their life and where he died January 14, 1933.
Mrs. Ellis became a christian about 45 years ago and united with the Baptist church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.
She departed this life December 29, 1933, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. M. Bradbury, Edmond, Okla., leaving besides this daughter the following children: Mrs. Hattie Snow, Mrs. L. P. Bledsoe, Mrs. D. C. Bledsoe, all of Cabool; Mrs. T. K. Fugate, Elk Creek, Mrs. T. A. Bradbury and Hubert Ellis, Oklahoma City.
She also leaves three brothers, Luther Allsman, of Springfield, Mo.; Dan W. Allsman, of San Francisco, Calif.; and Frank Allsman, of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Mrs. E. T. Haynie, of Tinsman, Ark. The latter two were present for the funeral service.
Besides these there are 32 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Ellis was a kind, loving mother, a devoted companion, a true christian and a staunch Baptist. Only a short time before she died she expressed her belief in the spirit of good-will and forgiveness. Her life was a benediction of her children and a lessing to her many friends.
The remains were brought to Cabool for burial Monday and the funeral services were hled at Chapel Hill Baptist church, near her old home Monday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. E. F. Maness, pastor of the Cabool Church, conducted the services and the interment was in the Chapel Hill cemetery by the side of her husband and mother. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott directed the burial."
