NEWS DEMOCRAT (Belleville, Illinois), August 4, 1983:

Albert N. Bateman, Sr., 89, of South Roxana, Illinois, formerly of Belleville, died Wednesday, August 3, 1983, at Wood River Township Hospital.

He was a car inspector for Aluminum Ore in East St. Louis.

Preceding him in death were his wife, the former Fern Brewer, on May 10, 1981; a daughter; two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are three sons, Albert Bateman, Jr. of South Roxana, Illinois, Elwood R. Bateman of Washington, Indiana and Richard L. Bateman of St. Marks, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Geraldine) Lopinot of Belleville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Younger of Lenzburg; two brothers, James and Rollie Bateman, both of Washington, Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Monahan and Mrs. Lora Bruno, both of Belleville and Mrs. Flossie Bruno of Atlanta, Georgia; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 5, at the George Renner and Sons Funeral Home in Belleville. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday, August 4, at the funeral home.

Note: Albert and Helen's son, Richard Leland Bateman, was born on December 27, 1925 in East St. Louis, Illinois and passed away on May 16, 2005. Per the Social Security Death Index, his last residence was in Crawfordville, Florida. At this time, his burial place is unknown.
