Lovie Juanita Nelson, 80, of Longview, passed away October 22, 2006, in Harker Heights. She was born February 23, 1926, in Norphlet, Arkansas, to William and Mayme Whilden Johnson. She was a telephone secretary and a member of Pine Tree Church of Christ. Mrs. Nelson is survived by five sons, Stewart Smith of Longview, Bruce Nelson of Washington, Alan Nelson of Cleveland, Texas, Dennis Nelson of Longview, and Terry Nelson of New Diana; one daughter, Nancy Portz of Killeen; one brother, William Stewart Johnson of Longview; one stepbrother; Walter H. Whilden of Maryland; a stepsister, Ruth Cummins of Wichita, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Rust officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, prior to the services.
