John was the son of Edward and Mary Coll, both born in Ireland.
He was a retired Pennsylvania Railroad employee, having been a yardmaster at Harrison. He had retired in October of 1936. John was survived by his wife, Ida Feick-Platen Coll, one daughter, Mrs. Veronica McCarthy, of Bradley Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Beers, of 173A Winfield Avenue and Mrs. Katherine Petrie, of Philadelphia.
Services were held from Richmond Rauth's, Jersey City. High mass requiem was held at St. Paul's R. C. Church. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Trenton, NJ.
His obituary was published in the Lambertville Beacon on August 18, 1938. Mrs. Ida H. Coll of 173 A Windfield Ave was the informant on his NJ death certificate.
