Dorothy Ellen Cook was born October 6, 1930 in Bonita, (Montague County), to Henry Leslie and Bessie Ellen Cook. She was the youngest of 3 children, and she attended school in St. Jo.

On December 1, 1950, she married the love of her life, Venson Earl Waggoner, a marriage lasting until his death in 1999. They briefly lived in Ft. Worth before settling in Sanger to operate the telephone company. She later worked for Moore Business Forms in Denton until it closed in 1987, and several jobs thereafter before retiring and spending her time caring for her grandchildren and husband prior to his death.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her passions included sewing, pottery, painting, cooking, and time with family and friends. She also devoted many Sundays to caring for babies in the nursery at the Sanger Church of Christ, where she was a member for many years. She spent the final years of her life at Redbird Manor in Sanger, receiving wonderful care from the staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Venson, sister Glady Drury; and brother, Ray Cook. She is survived by her sons and their wives; Jimmy & Susan Waggoner and Craig & Christine Waggoner, all of Sanger; her 5 grandchildren; Jamie Waggoner and wife Rachel of Little Elm, Kyle Waggoner of Rhome, Melissa Waggoner of Midland, Sara Waggoner of Richardson, and Katy Hall and husband Trey of Sanger; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Macy, and Violet.
