Merinus, 78, passed away at 8:00 a.m., at his home.

He was the son of Anthony and Frances (Leugers) Puthoff. On Apr 20, 1963, in St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, he married Alice J. Goecke, who survives in Maria Stein.

Also surviving are three sons: Ret. Col. Frederick A. (Hyesuk), Manassas, VA, Mark (Theresa), Coldwater, and Thomas (Rhonda), Maria Stein; two daughters: Ann (Douglas) Horvath, Brookville, and Jill (Doyle) Hicks, Lewis Center; a sister-in-law, Agnes Puthoff, St. Henry; and nine grandchildren.

Deceased are seven siblings linked below; and a brother-in-law, John Rabold.

A member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, the Men's Sodality of the Church and of the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post #571. He was a farmer and owned and operated his own plumbing business and enjoyed fishing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
