He was raised and attended school in the neighboring town of Copperas Cove. In 1997, he graduated from Copperas Cove High School, where he was a member of the band and The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC).

At the time of his death he was employed by Phil's Body Shop and at Mid-Tex Auto Body Shop.

Two funeral services were held to honor Jason's memory. The first was held on February 18, 2005 at 1 p.m. in his hometown of Copperas Cove at the Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel--Pastor Weon Gab Zhi, from the Full Gospel Killeen Church, officiated the ceremony. The second was held the following afternoon (at the same time of day) at the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth--Pastor R. J. McGinty officiated. Following the second memorial service, he was laid to rest in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth.
