Richard C. "Punxy" Ross, 86, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 6th, while in the company of family members, at his residence. Punxy was born in Natrona Heights, on September 14, 1929, a son of the late Ella (Carney) and Harry A. Ross.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a welder for Wise Machine Company in Butler for over 35 years. He was of the Methodist faith.
Punxy was a member of the Saxonburg Sportsmen's Club for 45 years, and a past member of both the Tarentum Sportsmen's Club and Amateur Trapshooting Association. He shot trap for 40 years in the Butler Co. Trap League, Valley Trap League, and also registered thousands of targets at A.T.A. shoots.
Punxy was an avid hunter, fulfilling his 70th year of hunting with a trophy buck this year.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Agnes "Babe" (Burkett) Ross; son Jerry A. (Sandie) Ross, of Sarver, daughter Pamela (Rick) Seguin, of Buffalo Twp.; son Glenn (Lisa) Ross, of S. Buffalo Twp.; 6 grandchildren Melissa Ross, Tracy Kelley, Justin Johns, Jared Johns, Shannon Ross & Rachel Potensky; 4 great-grandchildren; three sisters Mardelle Humes, of Buffalo Twp., Shirley McBee, of Butler & ValJean Campbell of Cabot.
He was preceded in death by three sons James R., George E. & Randy L. Ross; and 9 brothers and sisters. Family and friends will be received on Saturday April 9th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 am on Sunday, April 10th, with Pastor Robert Linhart officiating.
Burial will be held in Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.
The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Hospice for their wonderful care.
