Earnest Wade Bowie, 82, of 82 S. Federal St., died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born Oct. 24, 1915, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Thurston B. and Violet V. Tipton Bowie.

He worked for 15 years in sales at Forresters Lincoln Mercury Inc. in Chambersburg, retiring in 1971. He was self-employed in Chambersburg for a number of years.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of Zion Reformed Church in Chambersburg.

He also was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46, American Legion in Chambersburg, and National AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Helen E. Hays Bowie; one daughter, Mona L. Suders of Chambersburg; two sons, Dennis W. Bowie of Harrisburg, Pa., and Terry L. Bowie of Enola, Pa.; three grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Diller and the Rev. Robert D. Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Reformed Church, 259 S. Main St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
