James H. Deavenport, 71, of New Orleans, LA, died in a Dallas hotel Saturday, May 19, 1934.
Mr. Deavenport was the son of the late Major M. W. Deavenport and was born in Grapevine.
Mr. Deavenport is a former resident of Wellington. He lived for several years on the farm now owned by J. A. Richerson. Later he was a partner of M. P. Watkins in the gin business. This was during the years of 1910-1911 and 1912. He was a stockholder of the Wellington State Bank at that time and owned property in this county.
He had made his home in Texas most of his life and had been visiting in Dallas and Fort Worth for several weeks. He was planning to visit relatives in Denton when his death came suddenly.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cleo Kingsley of New Orleans; and J. A. Deavenport, a son of Philadelphia, PA; and a sister, Mrs. J. M Strong, Sr. of Wellington.
