Louis A "Lou" Hagler, 73, died Aug.1, 2004 in an airplane accident at Porter Field, Langley. He was the only one in the plane.
Lou lived and worked in San Francisco, Calif., before coming to Whidbey Island in 1981. He owned and operated a metal fabrication shop, both in San Francisco and Langley for many years. He was also a sales representative for Multi-Flo Waste Treatment Systems for 10 years.
Lou served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He loved music, played bass guitar, banjo and sang with various groups in San Francisco. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Whidbey Island Dixieland Band and Improv Quartet, Useless Bay Golf and Country Club and Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club. He loved flying and building airplanes. He also loved dancing, fishing, boating and golf. Lou and Lucia traveled extensively.
Lou is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lucia Pan of Langley, sons Thomas, Mark, Joseph, Benntt and George and daughters, Susan Hoag and Deborah Wong, all of California and a brother David (Maggie) Hagler of Wanan. One daughter Laurie, one son Arlo and one brother Darry preceded him in death.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Remembrances may be made to the Whidbey Island Dixieland Band Scholarship Fund, c/o Jerry Jones, 3374 S. W. Grientjes Lane, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor, WA
