Daniel Ankrom, 86, of Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully at 12:05 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2006, at Butler VA Medical Center. Born in Mt. Oliver Station, March 8, 1920, he was a son of the late James and Rachel (Grable) Ankrom.

He attended Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church, in Buffalo Township. He was employed as a welder at Pullman Standard in Butler, retiring in 1982. Daniel served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class during World War II. He was stationed aboard the USS Pressley, a Destroyer Escort, in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by four daughters, Noreen (Patrick) Real, of Evans Mills, N.Y., Arlene Danella Ankrom, of Buffalo Township, Marjorie (James) Lambert, of Spencer, Okla., and Louave (Hugh) Foster, of Collins, N.Y.; two sons, Tim Ankrom and Don Ankrom, both of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ted (Mae) Ankrom, of Eighty Four.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Arlene (Ross) Ankrom, who passed away in 2001; nine brothers, Hallie, Vernon, Leo, Paul, Raymond, Ralph, Milford, Pierrie and Ernest; and five sisters, Hazel Tubio, Slinda Bice, Rachel Varner, Clara Fisher and Virginia Yoder.

Family and friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. William McCreery officiating. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, in Worthington, with full military honors.
