Joseph la Colombière (1651-1723) est un prêtre sulpicien, chanoine et vicaire général du diocèse de Québec, en Nouvelle-France (Canada), et prédicateur de renom.
Frère de Saint-Claude-la-Colombière, jésuite célèbre par ses vertus et ses prédications, il est né à Vienne dans le Dauphiné en 1651. Il entra chez les Sulpiciens et fut ordonné prêtre vers 1676. Il demeure dans la métropole jusqu'en 1682.
Il arriva en Nouvelle-France le 21 juillet 1682. Il fut aumônier de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal pendant neuf ans. Rappelé en France, en 1691, avec M. Bailly, par l'abbé Tronson, il entra au séminaire de Saint-Sulpice ; mais Mgr de Saint-Vallier le ramena avec lui, à Québec, et le fit chanoine, en 1692, vicaire-général du diocèse et archidiacre, en 1698. Il obtint entre temps un titre de docteur en droit civil et canonique.
En 1694, il était supérieur des hospitalières de Québec. Le 4 juin 1708, il prononça l'oraison funèbre de Mgr de Laval. Il fut aussi grand chantre, conseiller-clerc et supérieur des religieuses hospitalières de Québec. Il mourut de fièvres malignes à l'hôtel-Dieu, le 18 juillet 1723, à l'âge de 72 ans, et fut inhumé dans le chœur de la cathédrale.

Brother of St Claude la Colombière , Jesuit famous for his virtues and his preaching, he was born in Vienna in the Dauphine in 1651. He joined the Sulpicians and was ordained to 1676. He remains in the city until 1682.
He arrived in New France on July 21, 1682. He was chaplain of the Hôtel-Dieu de Montreal for nine years. Recalled to France, in 1691, Mr. Bailly, by Father Tronson, he entered the seminary of Saint Sulpice; but Bishop Saint-Vallier brought him back with him to Quebec, and made him a canon in 1692, vicar general of the diocese and archdeacon, in 1698. He obtained the meantime a doctorate in civil and canon law.
In 1694, he was superior of the Hospitalières de Québec. On June 4, 1708, he delivered the funeral oration of Bishop Laval. He was also a great singer, adviser-cleric and superior of the Religious Hospitalières de Québec. He died of malignant fevers at the Hôtel-Dieu, on 18 July 1723 at the age of 72, and was buried in the choir of the cathedral.
