Obituary for June Phillips
Loretta "June" Phillips, 91, of Tulsa, passed from this life March 5, 2016 at Oklahoma Methodist Manor.
Born June 26, 1924, in Tulsa, OK to Jim Tom & Pauline Perry, she was the second oldest of seven sisters and one brother who she loved dearly. A proud graduate of Daniel Webster High School, class of 1942, June met her lifelong love, J. Lowell Phillips, while in school. They married November 19, 1944, in Augusta, GA and enjoyed 63 years together. A favorite pastime during their retirement was their involvement with The Circuit Riders.
June spent her working career at F&M Bank, where she cherished her colleagues and customers. She attended First Christian Church, downtown Tulsa, where she was a long time member of the Homebuilders Sunday School class. Aside from spending several years in Clinton and Duncan, OK, she lived most of her life in Tulsa. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends at OMM.
June is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law Betsi Phillips of Tulsa and son-in-law Greg Fox of Stillwater. Grandchildren: Sarah Phillips Francisco and husband Cody of Rochester, NY; Karalea Fox of Stillwater; Lorrelyn Fox of Stillwater; Mark Phillips and wife Dedra of Tulsa; Nathan Fox & wife Katie of Broken Arrow and Layne Fox of Stillwater. Great grandchildren: Riley & Breanne Francisco of Rochester, NY; Katelyn and Christopher Lower and Channing Phillips of Tulsa and Ellie and Emersen Fox of Broken Arrow. Sisters: Jackie Smith of Tulsa; Dixie Jurney and husband Tommy of Tulsa; brother Jim Tom Perry of Tulsa and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowell, son Perry Phillips and daughter Elaine Phillips Fox, four sisters and many other family members.
A Memorial service to celebrate June's life will be held at First Christian Church Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. The family will be present Monday, March 7, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm, however viewing will be open from noon to 7pm on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church Homebuilders Scholarship fund or to the FCC music ministry.
