Eben was born 3 March 1791 in Ct., the son of Jedediah Hill and Abigail Kilby. His first wife Anna, daughter Lurissa, brother John and sister-in-law Esther (Adams) Hill are buried in Kossuth Cemetery near Eben. Eben married Anna Barney in 1816. They had six children: Eben B., Jr., John S., Harvey, William, Lurissa, and Hiram. His second wife was Frances "Fanny" (Bennett) (Toole).

Eben Hill served in the War of 1812 in Capt. George W. Clark's 55th NY Regiment and McCumber's NY Militia.
