Orphena was the daughter of Mary Bradshaw and David Currier.

Orphena's siblings were Charles, Robert (born 1831 - died at age 86 on 22 März 1917 in Aurora, Kane, Illinois), James B. and David G.

According to the US Censuses of 1850 and 1860, the Currier family then resided in Stockholm, St. Lawrence County, New York. Orphena's mother's place of birth was in both cases Canada. In 1860, at age 20, Orphena was a school teacher.

Phene was the first wife of De Witt Clinton Tanner and bore him 2 daughters before she died at the early age of 30 years, 3 months and 12 days. In the U.S. Census of 1870 Orphena's daughters were recorded living at their uncle's home in Chicago with Robert Currier, his wife, Mary and their children. A David Tanner, age 30, was also listed.

On April 21, 1886, Orphena's daughter, Corolyn C. Tanner, married Joseph Mead Bailey, Jr. at Aurora, Kane County, Illinois. Following the untimely death of Mr. Bailey five years into their marriage, Corolyn remarried to John Kimberly Mumford on March 19th, 1895, with whom she had three daughters and a son.

On June 7, 1887, in Cook County, Illinois, Orphena's daughter, Harriet Mary Tanner, married Reginald Hargreaves Bulley (b. 3 Jun. 1855 in Liverpool), with whom she had 4 known children, Charles Reginald (b. 1888), Rachel, Carolyn (b. 1892) and Leonora (b. 1903). The family resided in Syracuse at the time of the 1910 and 1920 censuses.

Harriet had been a student of piano under Emil Liebling, attended Wellesey College and was an active suffragette. Her husband had been a chemical engineer and naturalist who died on January 27th 1930 in Cocoanut Grove, Florida. Reginald immigrated from New Brighton, England. He built the Halcomb Steelworks in Syracuse, installing the first electrical furnace in the U.S.

According to the New York Times of January 15th, 1938, Harriet M. (Tanner) Bulley died on the 14th in Merion, Pennsylvania, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Croasdale Trump. Harriet's other children were: Charles R. of Chesnut Hill, Mrs. J. Raffles (Carolyn) Cox of Ottawa, Canada (JR Cox possibly at Memorial #108910572), and Mrs. Lawrence Crane (Leonora) Woods, Jr. of Sewickley, Pennsylvania (later of Cave Creek, Arizona).

Charles Croasdale and Rachel Bulley Trump had 3 children:
Charles Edward (Ted) Trump,
Peter Bulley Trump and
Rachel (Rae) Trump.

Two New York Times articles provide the following information about Harriet and Reginald's daughter, Leonora:

1) 20 Jan. 1924: While the Bulleys lived in Pompano, Florida, the engagement of their daughter, Leonora, to Mr. Woods was announced. Leonora graduated from Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore and attended the college before transferring to Radcliffe in Cambridge.

2) 15 Mar. 1954: Mary Louise, was engaged to Richard DeVries Raymond, son of Morris T. Raymond of Aurora, N.Y. Lawrence and Leonora appear to be divorced at the time of this announcement.

In addition, two daughters were listed in the 1930 and 1940 census records: Corolyn and Mary Louise.

The grave of Orphena's daughter, Corolyn (born Jan. 26, 1866, died June 23, 1949), has not yet been located.

Phene's maternal aunt, Hester, married the father of First Lady McKinley. Phene's son-in-law, J.K. Mumford, was co-author of a biography about President McKinley.
