ROBERT H. ROE, 80, of Salem, IL died March 1, 2016 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.
Born March 4, 1935 in Hoopeston, IL, he was the son of John and Evelyn (Schenk) Roe who preceded him in death.
Mr. Roe was of the Christian faith. He was a consistent member of the Marion Masonic Lodge. A former member of the Salem Elk's Club, he continued as a member of the Salem Moose Lodge. Prior to retirement, he was and OTR for Valley Steel for 25 years and following retirement worked at Salem Tire Center.
He married Yvonne M. Holcomb, November 13, 1963 in Flora and she survives.
Also surviving are his children Richard Roe and wife Darlein of Yantis, TX; Tony Lister and wife Peggy of Lawrenceville; Sandra Hemel and husband Rikki of Van Alstyne, TX; Sindy Putman and husband Jack of Hillsboro, TX; Wanda Gentry and husband Frank of Ft. Wayne, IN and Michelle Oliver and husband Donald of Louisville, IL.
19 grandchildren including and very special granddaughter and caretaker, Amy Lister of Salem, along with 19 great grandchildren and onr great, great grandchild.
Siblings, John Roe and wife Nancy of Arizona, Jerry Roe and wife Karla of California, Tom Roe and wife Carol of Salem, Kenny Roe and wife Kitty of North Carolina, Gladis Stanislaus and husband Gene of Wisconsin and Dixie Denton and husband Dwane of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Florence Griffith and Deloris Michaels.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with burial to follow at the Clay City Cemetery.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 P.M. Sunday, followed by public visitation from 5-8:00 P.M. at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital or to the Donor's choice.
