Wilfrid was the son of Joseph Benjamin Freeman (born 1862 in Woolrich, Waterloo, Ontario, died 1944 in Ontario) and Ann MacKay (McKay) (born 1864 in Carrick, Bruce, Ontario, died 1938).
He served in the Canadian Army for two years (possibly 1914-1916) in the 31st Regiment.
In 1916, Wilfrid enlisted in the CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force) to serve in World War I. He was assigned to the 4th Signal Company.
On 15 July 1922, Wilfrid married Edith Gertrude Mortimer in York, Ontario.
Wilfrid died at Central Park Lodge nursing home at 63 Westheights Drive in Kitchener.
I would like to express my appreciation to Terry Clare for his invaluable help in providing information about Wilfrid and his wife, Edith.
On his enlistment forms, his signature was Wilfrid, not Wilfred.
