Sergeant Hogan was one of three Commonwealth airmen who lost their lives in the crash of 34 OTU's Ventura II (#AJ211) aircraft. They were on a cross-country exercise for training bomber crew when the Ventura went down near Richibucto, New Brunswick.
The three airmen who perished in his accident were-
RAAF Sergeant Hubert John BURNHAM,
RAAF Sergeant Philip Llewellyn EDMOND and
RNZAF Sergeant John Edward HOGAN.
