Elizabeth Kathleen Orford Dawson

Daughter of William and Marianne Orford of Rathbride House, Co. Kildare.

Marriage
Henry Dawson, a widower, a Veterinary Surgeon in the 14th Hussars, from Newbridge, parish of Great Connell, son of William Dawson, a Gentleman, married Elizabeth Kathleen Orford, a spinster, from Rathbride House, Kildare, parish of Tully, Kildare, daughter of William Orford, a Gentleman Farmer, at Kildare Cathedral (C. of I.), on 27 August 1868.
The witnesses were,
F. I. Campbell,
W.D. Larkin.

The family do not appear to be listed in the 1901 census of Ireland.
Henry was visiting Dublin, and was recorded at a Boarding House at Lower Fitzwilliam Street.

In the 1911 census the family were living at Killiney, Co. Dublin.
present were,
Elizabeth Dawson, aged 63, married, born in Co. Kildare.
She had given birth to 8 children, 7 of whom were still living.
Alice, daughter, aged 35, single, born in Co. Kildare,
Spencer, son, aged 26, married, born in Co. Kildare.
He had 2 children, both living.

3 domestic servants were also present.

Death.
Elizabeth Kathleen Dawson, aged 68, a widow, widow of a Major in the Army Veterinary Department, died on 11 February 1914 at Mentone, Killiney, Co. Dublin.
The cause of death was Cardiac Disease, Cardiac Failure, certified.
Her death was registered on 15 May 1914 by Arthur H. Burne, son-in-law, present at death, Killiney

Her son,
Major William Orford Dawson
b. 22 October 1869
died in the sinking of the SS Persia in 1915, off Crete.
He was a Veterinary Surgeon, qualified at Edinburgh on 21 May 1894.
He was then serving in the Indian Civil Veterinary Department.
