Sister Mary, 90, died at St. Bernardine Home.

She was born to Jacob and Philomena (Jutte) Weigel.

Surviving is a sister, Naomi Birkmeyer, Coldwater.

Deceased are three brothers, John, Albert and Cyril, and two sisters, Emma Schroer and Henrietta Sudhoff.

The former Hilda Weigel entered the Sisters of Mercy March 24, 1931 and made her profession of vows Aug. 15, 1933. After teaching a short time at St. Vincent de Paul School, Toledo, she entered St. Ritas Hospital School of Nursing in Lima. She also attended De Sales College and earned bachelor and master of science in nursing education degrees from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Following a 1936 nursing assignment at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, she served as director of nursing services/School of Nursing and assistant administrator at Mercy Hospital in Toledo from 1942-1963. From 1963-1965, she was director of St. Ritas Hospital School of Nursing and served as administrator of the Lima hospital from 1965-1984. She retired from St. Ritas in 1996. She was a charter member of Sigma Theta Tau Kappa honorary sorority.

Funeral Mass was at St. Bernarding Chapel, Fremont.
