Margie L. Petty, age 93, of La Harpe died Tuesday July 3, 2001 at La Harpe-Davier Health Care Center.
She was born on December 15, 1907 in Dallas City, the daughter of Walter and Alta (Johnson) Thompson.
She was married to Denver Petty in Dallas City on May 11, 1930. He died in September 1992.
She is survived by one son, James Petty of Wilmington, Illinois, several nieces and nephews, 5 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one sister, Nina Ashfort of Tucson, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son Gary Petty and 2 sisters Ruth Trubitski and Velna Alderson.
She and her husband lived on their farm in Lomax for many years, moving to La Harpe in 1976. She attended Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb and taught for 31 years. She began her teaching career in a 1-room country school and later taught in Durham and Lomax. She was a member of La Harpe United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday July 6 at La Harpe United Methodist church. Burial was in the Dallas City Cemetery.
