Robert Filledes “Flip” Lloyd, 68, Vero Beach, FL died February 9, 1991 at Indian River Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in St. Augustine, FL, he moved to Vero Beach in 1949, with the State Road Department as a project engineer for Merrill Barber Bridge and remained in that area to work for Fred Turk in designing and developing St. Johns Drainage District.

He established Lloyd and Associates in 1952. Besides numerous projects for the City of Vero Beach and Indian River County, he designed and engineered numerous other projects in that area.

He graduated from Ketterlinus High School in 1941, attended The Citadel, Charleston, SC for three years, and graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in engineering.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army, 42nd Infantry Division.

He was a charter member of John’s Island Club, member of Riomer Yacht Club, and the Vero Beach Country Club, Vero Masonic Lodge No. 250, and belong to numerous professional organizations. He was a founding member of the board of trustees of St. Edward School and he was a member and past junior warden and vestryman of Trinity Episcopal Church and past board member of the Vero Beach Country Club.Funeral services were held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Vero Beach. Burial was in John’s Island Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lloyd, two sons John Robert Lloyd, Tallahassee, Robert Arthur Lloyd, Gainesville; two daughters, Susan Elizabeth Lloyd, Washington, D.C., Roberta Lloyd Fremaux, Houston, TX; a brother, Captain Henry Filledes Lloyd, St. Augustine; a granddaughter, Katheryn Helen Lloyd, Tallahassee, FL; and other relatives.
