William Balschmiter passed away at a local hospital at the age of 84 years, after an illness of one week. Deceased was born in Germany August 30, 1840 and came to America with 20 years of age, coming direct to Davenport. In 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Haaf at Davenport and she preceded him in death in 1895. Surviving are three daughters, Miss Ella Balschmiter, Mrs. John Pilgrim and Mrs. Meta Jebe, Davenport and Edward of Davenport. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Runge's Chapel. Interment will be made in Oakdale cemetery.
