Howard A. Barker entered into eternal rest unexpectedly Friday (Dec. 25, 2015) at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo.
He was born in 1951 in Gowanda and resided in New Albion for all his life.
He graduated from Cattaraugus High School and Alfred State College with a degree in mechanical engineering. He retired from the West Valley nuclear plant in 2005 and EGW Agency in 2012. He had worked in law enforcement since December 1979, most recently with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, where he served until his passing. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Cattaraugus County for over 35 years.
He was an avid motorcyclist, a lifetime member of AMA and a member of the Zoar Valley Club.
He was the beloved husband of Annemarie Reed Barker. He was a brother of Wendy (Robert) Quinby and the late Beth Barker; and a son of the late Joanne and Roger Barker. He is survived by two nephews, Chad and Charlie; and two grandnephews, Madison and Evan.
The family will be present to greet relatives and friends Saturday (Jan. 2, 2016) at Mentley Funeral Home, 411 Rock City St., Little Valley, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a memorial service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and the Cattaraugus County Deputies Society in memory of Howard.
