Gene Johnson, 54, of Highmore, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his home.

Memorial service was Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Luze Funeral Home, Highmore. Burial will be at Scotty Philip Cemetery, Ft. Pierre, at a later date.

Fred Gene Johnson was born March 19, 1961 in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Fred and Linda (Robertson) Johnson. He attended all twelve years of school in Gettysburg, later obtaining his GED. For a short time, he attended Mitchell VoTec.

He lived in the Gettysburg area until moving to Highmore in 1993. While in Highmore, he tore down buildings and was the dump supervisor. He loved his dogs. You’d always see him with his cowboy hat on walking his dogs.

Survivors include his father, Fred Johnson of Pierre; two sisters: Anna Humphry of Bismarck, ND and Brenda Van Dyne of Mayer, MN; five nephews; two nieces; and one great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one nephew.
