Lester W. Fleet
Lester W. Fleet, 86, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Fleet was a foreman for 53 years before retiring in 1994 for Farlo Manufacturing in Poughkeepsie. He was a member of Dutchess County Stamp Club, an avid Stamp Collector and Dart Ball Player. A Member of the Old Timers Club of Farlo, a member of the Moose Lodge, Model Railroad Society, Covered Bridge Society and served with Civilian Conservation Corps in Utah. He served in the United States Navy Mate 3rd Class during 1943-1945. Born in New Haven, Conn. on Nov. 12, 1914 he was the son of Arthur B. Fleet and Eva A. Haight. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. On Dec. 8, 1946 in Fishkill Plains, NY he married Doretta M. Puff, she survives him at home. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 daughters, Sandra Zeaman, Corry, PA, Beverly Farwell, Poughkeepsie and Shari Fleet, Poughkeepsie; 3 sons, Russell Fleet, Cavecreek, Az, Gary Fleet, Winsted, Conn., and Tracy Fleet, Staatsburg; 13 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Sheldon Fleet and a sister Hazel Butler. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday at the Funeral Home with Rev. James Moore officiating. Burial in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 - 7-9 PM Thursday at The Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral home, Inc., 4353 Albany Post Rd., Hyde Park, NY.
