Ruth was born in Carbondale Colorado on March 9th 1913 to Paul and Grace (Comrie) Gould, growing up on the homestead on Missouri Heights with her six siblings (Archie, Willard, Richard, Rosezella, Alice and Zada). She attended schools throughout the valley and graduated from Carbondale Union High in 1932 from a class of 12 students. She married her husband Lawrence "Bugo" on New Years Eve in 1935 and they were happily married for 53 years. She was a proud wife and mother, worked various jobs including the U.S. Post Office after her children were grown.
She lived in the same house that was built as a present by her Uncle in 1938. She loved traveling the world, was an avid reader, enjoyed doing handwork, gardening, cooking, working on many boards and committees for the Presbyterian Church. She was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for her children's troops. She always loved playing cards weekly with a close knit group of friends. She loved boarding, chauffeuring and entertaining the local Catholic Nuns. No matter what her age she had a thirst for learning and knowledge, and encouraged it in others. She was a loving, strong, independent women who had a razor sharp sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter Eleanor Grace Zemlock, her grandsons Scott (Sahara Kong) of Long Beach, CA, Mike (Diane) of Fontana, CA, Joe (Debbie) of Rifle, CO, and Andrew of Waverly, OH. Her daughter-in-law Gracie Zancanella, her granddaughters Rosemary (Steve) Preheim, Christy and Annie (Paul Patman) Zancanella of Glenwood Springs. Ten great-grandchildren — Christian, Michael, Tynan, Madison, Garrett, Martin, Amelia, Lexington, Joey, and Mary and two great-great-grandchildren Ryker and Kadence Todd. Also surviving countless nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, her beloved husband Lawrence "Bugo" Zancanella, their son Lawrence "Buzz" Zancanella, and her son-in-law Martin Zemlock.
