Pamela Kay (Dessenberger) Conrad
, 57, passed away at 12:05 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO from complications associated with Scleroderma, a disease that she actively fought for 21 years.

She was born on May 22, 1958 in Parsons, KS to Billie (Trammell) and Joe Dessenberger.

She was a fighter from the very beginning weighing only 2 pounds 12 ounces and being the first baby to use an incubator at Mercy Hospital in Parsons.

Pam grew up in Parsons and was a graduate of Parsons High School.

She lived in Athens, TX from 1978 – 1992. She returned to Parsons in 1992 and lived here ever since.

She worked as a care taker in many capacities throughout her life, most recently with SKIL.

She attended The Church of the Brethren.

Pam married Joseph L. Conrad on November 24, 1978 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons, KS. He was the love of her life and soul mate. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1991.

Pam is survived by four daughters – Amber Conrad of Parsons, KS, Samantha Jo Conrad of Joplin, MO, Tracy Stuever (husband Jason) of Wichita, KS, and Kimberly Smith (husband Scott) of Topeka, KS; five grandchildren – Kaleigh and Scottie Smith and Austin, Jadyn, and Brody Stuever; two brothers – Terry Dessenberger of Parsons, KS and Steve Stephens of Salem, Oregon; brothers-in-law David and Jim Conrad and Bob Smith and sisters-in-law Lois Shields and Mary Wise; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and life-long best friend Debbie Lamb.

Pam joins in Heaven her husband Joe, both parents, Billie and Joe Dessenberger, brothers Rocky and Ricky Stephens, sisters Cheryl Head and Dawna Smith, grandmother Inez Trammell, mother-in-law Vesta Conrad, father-in-law Lloyd Conrad and wife Frieda Conrad, brother-in-law Ron Shields, nephews Darren and Scott Shields, and niece Heather Smith.

Family and friends can pay their respects and celebrate Pam’s life by joining the family at a graveside service at 2 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Family wishes for memorials to be made to the Scleroderma Foundation in lieu of flowers/plants and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942 Parsons, KS 67357.
